For the last four weeks we gathered data about the top five clothing wholesalers and liquidators online.

The craiterias are based on:

2. Years in business

3. Companies size

4. Type of merchandise and prices.

We also listed the worst wholesale clothing companies. For legal reasons we did not list their names.

The top companies are

wholesalefashionsquare.com (no complaints the last 3 years on the bbb.org) specialize in non branded clothes in full cases sizes.

www.merchandizeliquidators.com ( no complaints in the last 3 years on the bbb.org)  Deals with clothes but also cosmetics, general merchandiseand more. Its wholesale clothing merchandise is sold in larger lots than avarage.

apparelshowroom.com. Was bought our by redtagclothing.com in 2008 but was the first company to bring junior clothing in small lots of 6-12 pcs to the internet. It is located in LA California and has more than 40,000 clients.

Genco is incharged of the processing and selling all the sears, Kmart and othere chain stores.  Although there are some complaints on the BBB it is understandble due to a very large amount of clients. Anothere reason is the way the merchandise is liquidated (salvage and costumer return with damage goods.)

“Wholesale” in Thrift Shops

July 22nd, 2008 joe 1 comment

If you know a thing or two about how retail works, you know that retailers rely on the ability to purchase items wholesale, or in bulk, at a low price per item rate that is below the retail value of an item so that they can turn around the item to shoppers for a profit. The more you buy of something, the cheaper each individual item is even if you are paying a large sum for the group in total. Once you sell the items retail value, you make a good profit and not only recoup what you spent on the items, but make much more in addition.

Aside from relying only on wholesale suppliers, you might be able to find extremely low cost and still very desirable items in thrift shops. For example, you can find dirt cheap clothing that is like new and in another venue, be able to turn around shirt, pants, or whatever for a decent profit. So in theory, you are not purchasing these articles of clothing in a traditional wholesale sense, though similarly, you are paying a lower price per item value when compared to what you can sell the clothing for at a church sale, for example.

Like all other business endeavors, none of this is guaranteed success but with a little bit of experience, trial and error, and wise choices, you may profit by reselling items. And remember, wholesale suppliers are not your only source for inventory, do also consider what your local thrift shops have to offer.

NYC Sidewalk Vendors

July 22nd, 2008 joe No comments

If you live in or have visited New York City, chances are you have seen the many sidewalk vendors lining streets in various locations. Whether it be food items such as hot dogs, soda, icecream; clothing or accessory items such as hats, jewelry, pocket books or other items like children’s books or art, you may wonder how the people selling these items are able to profit off of characteristically low cost items. The secret behind it is wholesale buying.

What do we mean by wholesale buying? Like retail stores, sidewalk vendors purchase their inventory wholesale, or in bulk. This means they all deal with suppliers who manufacture the items or are conduits to manufacturers and are able to offer the items to these vendors at a lower price per item if purchased in a large quantity. Again, like with retail stores, vendors turn around these goods for a higher price and ultimately a profit. Although large selling volume will permit for high profits, the beautiful thing is that purchasing wholesale can mean that the prices are so low that any higher price you turn around an item for will mean good profits, whether you sell five or fifty of that one item.

Sidewalk vendors mostly need to apply for permits, so if you are considering this, check your local government to see what it is you need to sell in public. Either way, if looking to sell goods to others, the best way to success is to purchase your inventory from wholesale suppliers.

Storage Auctions

July 21st, 2008 joe No comments

Let’s consider that you are either in the business of selling goods wholesale or retail or maybe you have some level of interest in doing so. Much information is out there on how you can start a business or start your own store for example. With this comes the necessity for purchasing items wholesale regardless of whatever your inventory consists of. In most cases, this involves a set type of item in a set quantity. Unless you have already figured it out, many do not know that other types of items can be had inexpensively and with a fun, maybe even profitable amount of surprise!
You most certainly know about storage centers. These are buildings or trailers which specifically rent out space to customers who can store their possessions in the space and then pay a monthly fee for the storage space, much like you would pay rent for an apartment. The difference with storage space is that many times people sometimes forget that they have items in storage and stop paying for it. Or, they simply no longer care about their items in storage. Either way, this is where you can purchase items cheaply to resell.
What storage centers do to compensate for lost rent payments is to auction off the contents of storage lockers to the general public. A veritable treasure chest if you will, you can basically bid on the contents of a storage locker and almost always come out with an affordable purchase and maybe even make a practice of buying at these auctions and then turning around the items for a profit.

Deciding What You Want to Sell

July 21st, 2008 joe 1 comment

For the sake of possibly having a useful business idea, imagine you own a store or other type of venue where you sell items. If you already are involved in the retail sector then you probably already have an idea of either what items you happen to be dealing with, or maybe you have a specific preference of certain items you enjoy selling either because you know more about that type of item or simply enjoy selling DVDs, for an example. For the rest of you who do not have any of this in mind, you will need to have a general idea of what kind of items you want to deal in for retail sales.

This can either be a difficult or simple process. Try starting with items you use in your daily life, whether it be necessity or personal enjoyment. However, always remember that necessity items sell more frequently than entertainment items for example. With this you might find that there are too many things you can think of selling, but by giving it some careful thought, you should be able to come up with a general idea of what it is you want to sell.

Lastly, keep in mind what type of venue you will be selling at. Perhaps you own a store or you will be selling at church sales or on your own front lawn. With this in mind, it will help you to decide where you want to find items wholesale, how much you can afford to pay for bulk items, and so on and so forth. Profit will soon ensue after you’ve come up with a thoughtful business plan.

Wholesale and Your Garage Sale

July 21st, 2008 joe No comments

Now if you think about it, most garage sales you have been to or have hosted yourself usually consist of used items from someone’s home. You may have seen seemingly brand new things thrown into the mix, and maybe even in large quantities. The truth is many have figured out that certain types of items can be had, brand new, in wholesale quantities for low prices and a profit can be made from selling these items at such events. The good news is that you can also do this.

Here is a sample situation. It is spring time and you figure it is about time you clean up your home and get rid of anything you are no longer using. This means both low value items and maybe even things that are worth a pretty penny. Like with any garage sale, you gather the unwanted items together and price them prior to putting the items out for sale. Then you might look at any one of the online wholesale auction websites and try finding a lot of items that is very affordable. See if you can try selling these wholesale-bought items at your sale and try pricing them at double what you paid for the item granted that you are meeting or beating other retail prices of that given item.

You may find that the item in mind sells well at your garage sale. As you have more sales, you can certainly expand on the wholesale selection, for the greater variety of items that you can sell successfully, the more profit you can make. Who knows, maybe even one day you will be having garage sales of primarily wholesale purchased items!

Is the West Really the Best for Wholesale?

July 21st, 2008 joe No comments

When it comes to selling goods, most of us know that the magic behind it is wholesale amounts of products or merchandise being passed from manufacturer to retailer. It is easily understood that the workings behind wholesale deals is what makes profit possible for all parties, and ultimately varied selection and availability of goods to everyday consumers. Of course, price is important for all three key parties from manufacturer all the way down to consumer. Quality is also a major factor. However, how many in the retail industry consider the location in which merchandise originates?

The fact of the matter is that most merchandise being sold, especially in the western hemisphere and more specifically America, actually originates from China and other Asian and eastern areas and then find their way to American shores on our west coast. It is true that most commerce depends on this situation to meet supply and demand. Interestingly enough, west coast imports are not the only way to go when dealing in items purchased wholesale. There are many good deals to be found on the east coast.

One such example is Merchandize Liquidators, located at www.merchandizeliquidators.com. Specializing in clothing closeouts, it is amazing to see just how many great deals there are from this east coast source for low cost clothing. For retailers buying wholesale, especially those of you who deal partially or fully in clothing, it is definitely worth a look into what they have to offer. Why not, it would be good to further stimulate commerce on the American east coast.
